Hi, I'm Heather.
HC Web Labs carries my initials for a reason: it's the studio I founded, named, and designed myself — a web design and development practice based in Rocky Top, Tennessee. Every project that comes through receives the full lab treatment: researched, designed, built, and tested until it works beautifully.
I'm the designer, developer, and writer behind all of it, serving clients everywhere. Being independent is the advantage: when you reach the studio, you reach the person who does the work — no account managers, no handoffs, nothing lost in translation.

The Education
I earned an A.A.S. in Media Design Technology with a Web Technology concentration from Pellissippi State Community College, graduating cum laude, with certifications in web page authoring languages, mobile-first web design, and e‑commerce web design — the same three disciplines this studio is built on today.

The Field Years
Five years of professional freelance practice followed — serving clients through Freelancer, Fiverr, and Upwork alongside independent projects — across a wide range of industries, site types, and timelines. Those years turned an education into working judgment.

The Lab
Founding HC Web Labs was the natural next step: an independent studio operating under my own name and my own standards — built, like the websites it produces, deliberately and from the ground up.
Why "Web Labs"
Because the Web Never Stops Moving.
The name describes the practice. The lab is where I experiment with layouts and design structures, prototype approaches before they reach client work, and study the compliance standards the modern web continually revises — accessibility, performance, security, semantics. Those standards never stop changing; ongoing study is how I stay ahead of them, so my clients never have to think about them at all.
The design of this site reflects the same idea. The web is a vast, expanding space of its own, and the aesthetic here — deep space, neon signal, glass instruments — isn't decoration applied to the work. It's the work, visualized.
