Every workbench collects notes. Torn-corner observations, lessons that cost an afternoon to learn, the little discoveries that make the next build better than the last one. This page is where the lab's notes stop living in a drawer.

What This Is

Lab Notes is plain-English writing about websites, aimed at the people who own them — small businesses, nonprofits, artists, local offices. Not developers (though developers are welcome). If a post can't explain itself without jargon, it goes back on the bench until it can.

What's Coming

The first proper field notes are already in the works: what accessibility standards actually mean for a small business site, why the phone in your customer's pocket is the real target device, and a checklist for finding out who actually owns your website — the domain, the hosting, the files — before the day that answer matters.

The House Rules

Every claim earned. Every recommendation something the lab actually practices. No scare tactics, no upsell dressed as advice — the same plain dealing as everywhere else on this site. If a post ever helps you fix something yourself instead of hiring me, it did its job.
